Quote 1: "How could I say to Him: 'Blessed art Thou, Eternal, Master of the Universe, Who chose us from among the races to be tortured day and night, to see our fathers, our mothers, our brothers, end in the crematory? Praised be Thy Holy Name, Thou Who hast chosen us to be butchered on Thine alter? (Wiesel 74).'"
Analysis: Such a powerful quote this is! This shows how far Elie has come with his faith in God. Elie has allowed the Nazi's to strip him of everything including his opinion about his religion. He's blaming God for Adolf Hitlers decision to make the Jew be just like another form of dinosaurs; make them go extinct. Hilter has successfully torn Elie apart and turned him into nothing, but A-7713, just a number.
Quote 2: "On Christmas and New Years Day, there was no work (Wiesel 84)"
Analysis: The Nazi's are showing that they don't have a completely cold heart. They've allowed the "campers" to enjoy what they can of their holiday. They even received slightly thicker soup. This doesn't make sense to me. If Hitler hated the Jews so much, why did he allow them this small amount of freedom? It's almost as if Hitler cared a little bit...
